You're absolutely correct...depressing both buttons is the key! it should work after like 5 wipes.. I followed some of the suggestions here, like moistening the trackball and applying force on it while cleaning it with a tissue and holding it upside down... Use some cheap white wine like a plonky chardonnay. The roller shafts should be brushed lengthwise with a soft toothbrush dipped in isopropyl; this is where the crud settles that disables the ball motion. Give it one or two light squirts with Windex; you just want it damp, not wet. The rubber scroll wheel is sensitive and the alcohol is not needed.No not use water.

Was about to throw the mouse through the window when I tried holding the scroll wheel down and spraying inside with electrical cleaner. Introduction A common problem with the mighty mice is that dirt gets in the scrollball assembly and will make scrolling extremely aggravating. To all of you cleaning the mouse with alcohol, etc. I ignored it for sometime hopping that it will recover alone. Run the mouse upside down over the cloth. tried remedy, no good.
