I was at the point of smashing the whole lot into the trash, but this has saved me.
Working... With that setup I was able to use the keyboard and mouse without any problems from anywhere in the room. Had been connected fine in the past, but along the way the Bluetooth connections seem to get corrupted. Reset Magic Mouse Sign in to report inappropriate content.

The following mentions the keyboard, but it should work for other wireless devices that have a on/off switch of the contact type (i.e. If the machine you thought it used to be paired to is really no longer there, then it can't be interfering.
