The description says that it is compatible with Mac, but when I plug it in, the cd drive does not appear on my desktop. I cleaned out the inside of my drive using the card and lens cloth and it worked! You need to insert discs nearly all the way before the drive will activate and pull them in. I have a mac pro and happened to have an extra internal cd/dvd drive that I know works. During startup, the MacBook will test all integrated hardware, and if there's a problem with the optical drive connection or controller, you'll see a failure error message. Don't buy/use a cleaning disk if you have a slot loading laptop... A desktop tower (Mac Pro, G4 say) will take significantly less time to deal with than a laptop...
