It's for a MKIV Jetta, but should be very similar for a Passat. I had exactly the same fault on my new RRS, that turned out to be a wire that hadn't been connected. Insert the key and "un-lock" the door, use the handle to open the door and now press the fuel door key and it should open, same for trunk release button.Audi's are It makes a big difference.
