I checked the coolant level and it looked like it was normal (it was at the point in the overflow bowl where the bowl bulges out which from the book, it I did more driving on Sunday, quite a bit and then suddenly I saw the temperature gauge was working again. I bought a new thermostat w/housing from ecs tuning, you're also gonna need some coolant. It's free and it's easy, so don't hesitate to join the Audizine Family today! Looking through the history the car has had a recent maf and thermostat. If that doesn't fix it - replace the thermostat. I'd rather change both parts now and avoid having to do 1 part now and another part a few months down the line! When it works, it only goes to 11 o'clock, not straight up to noon (as it seems it should if everything is functioning).

The night before last Friday and before, neither of these problems happened and from what I've noticed, it wasn't as cold out either in the morning or afternoons.
I did and had no errors since. the ECT sensor is needed to controll many functions such as fuel injection, ingnition timing,variable valve timing, transmisions shifting ect. gauge just rises up and my temp gauge is normal now. check my blog I've just ordered mine from here.

It turns out the harness clip on the Coolant Temperature Switch snap off due to age I suppose. Then there are the radiator hoses and the pressure cap, all functioning to aid cool the engine in one way or another.

I'm going to hold off on replacing the temp gauge and sensors as I will likely need to do the timing kit in the spring.
