Inside the unit (see attached pics) there are two relays the larger one controls the lights in the 'Hazard Warning' mode whilst the smaller one is used when switching the indicators I have had a issue with my headlights, windshield wipers, and horn. Removing switch: First switch off ignition and all electrical consumers and remove ignition key. The rest is in reverse. When I stopped, the central locking also not working, and the radio operating switch on steering wheel... Reassemble.

The problem is so intermittent i.e only happens for a few minutes every few weeks that it keeps slipping my mind. It takes about 5 minutes!! There are no slots to insert a tool to release these. Using long-nosed pliers to grip the switch and try to pull it out failed. And theres only 1 relay for both the hazards and the indicators.
